Jakarta, 24 April 2024Terra Agri, an agriculture business service of Terra Drone Indonesia, has strategically partnered with Polytechnic Banjarmasin (POLIBAN) to bolster career opportunities and foster technological innovation. The collaboration, marked by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was inaugurated by Polytechnic Banjarmasin’s Director, Joni Riadi, and Terra Agri’s Chief Operating Officer, Wilson Ong.

The partnership aims to provide students with valuable insights and hands-on experience in the burgeoning field of drone technology, facilitating job placements with potential opportunities at Terra Agri. As a step towards increasing plantation production, improving work facilities and infrastructure, including labor training on technology, is crucial. Given the acceleration of work and the reduction of excessive pesticide use, the stability of the treatment process must go hand in hand. Therefore, this cooperation program between Terra Agri and POLIBAN can be a platform for such advancements.

Moreover, this collaboration between Terra Agri and POLIBAN will provide students and alums with valuable opportunities for practical fieldwork, internships, and research projects, enriching their practical knowledge and skills. The partnership also aims to actively engage local communities in Kalimantan, particularly in oil palm cultivation in South Kalimantan. This initiative aligns with Terra Agri’s substantial regional presence and ongoing projects, reinforcing its commitment to empowering the local workforce skills.

This program also holds great promise for advancing environmentally sustainable precision agriculture in South Kalimantan, in line with the South Kalimantan government’s vision outlined in Regulation (PERGUB) Number 13 of 2023, aimed at promoting sustainable palm oil plantations in the region.

Integrating academia and Terra Agri creates a robust platform for pioneering research and development in agricultural technology, focusing on drones and sustainable farming practices. Terra Agri’s commitment to promoting precision agriculture and reducing the excessive use of pesticides and water in agribusiness aligns with the goals of this collaboration.

This partnership between POLIBAN and Terra Agri is a prime example of the vital synergy between educational institutions and industries in propelling innovation, particularly in technology. It highlights the significance of collaborative efforts in driving transformative changes and setting new benchmarks for sustainable agricultural practices.

Joni Riadi is enthusiastic about the promising collaboration between POLIBAN and Terra Agri, foreseeing a fruitful partnership where Terra Agri may even contribute as a guest lecture at POLIBAN, enriching the learning environment for students.

Wilson extends a heartfelt invitation to the teachers, students, and staff of POLIBAN to join hands in advancing drone technology and exploring research opportunities in agriculture drones and smart farming. It perfectly aligns with current government and organizational programs in Indonesia, emphasising innovative solutions for the agricultural sector.
