Terra Drone Selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ "Project of Supporting Smart Agriculture Verification in Southeast Asia (Indonesia)"

Jakarta, 27 February 2025 – Terra Drone Corporation, recognized as the No.1 Drone Service Provider in the world for 2024, is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the “Project of Supporting Smart Agriculture Verification in Southeast Asia (Indonesia)” (1) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan(MAFF). This project aims to support the demonstration and business expansion of Japanese smart agriculture technologies in Indonesia. Terra Drone will work on building a network with local companies to facilitate demonstration and business development. As part of this project, Terra Drone participated in a workshop held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on February 6, 2025, where it made a presentation on drone-based pesticide and fertilizer spraying which utilizes high-precision positioning technology.

In recent years, while Japan’s domestic population continues to decline, the global food market (2) is expected to expand. The MAFF has been promoting the global expansion of Japan’s smart agriculture technologies. This project is part of the “Strategic Overseas Expansion Support Project for the Food Industry in FY2024”, a project led by the MAFF to demonstrate and deploy Japan’s advanced smart agriculture technologies in international markets.

Among the target regions, ASEAN countries have been identified as highly compatible with Japan’s agricultural technologies and expertise due to their similar climate and agricultural production conditions. To support the development of sustainable agriculture and food systems and to enhance food security, the MAFF has been advancing smart agriculture demonstration projects in collaboration with selected ASEAN countries.

Previously, this project had been implemented in Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam, and this year, Indonesia has been newly added as a participant. Terra Drone has been promoting Terra Agri, its drone-based pesticide spraying business, through Terra Drone Indonesia, its group company in Indonesia. Recognized for its expertise and contributions to advancing smart agriculture in Indonesia, Terra Drone was selected for this project.

This project represents a significant milestone for Terra Drone in contributing to the development of smart agriculture in Indonesia. With support from the MAFF and local authorities in Indonesia, Terra Drone aims to establish strong partnerships with local enterprises and conduct demonstrations using Terra Agri’s drone technology for pesticide and fertilizer spraying on palm oil plantations. This project is expected to accelerate the adoption of drone solutions in Indonesia’s agricultural sector.

To accelerate the development and improvement of its agricultural drones, Terra Drone will strengthen collaboration with local companies in Indonesia and receive support in establishing strategic partnerships. This project aims to conduct demonstrations for pesticide and fertilizer spraying on palm oil plantations.
