– Terra Agri and Poltek CWE collaborate to integrate drone technology into palm oil education, equipping students with practical skills for industry challenges.

– The partnership offers hands-on drone training, certifications, and career pathways through Terra Academy, supported by scholarships and real-world plantation testing.

– Demonstrations of advanced drones like the GX30 and DJI Matrice 3, inspire students with innovative plantation management solutions.

Jakarta, 23 May 2025 – Terra Agri, an agriculture business services of Terra Drone has joined forces with Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi (Poltek CWE), an institution dedicated to fostering specialized learning in palm oil agriculture. This partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), empowers students with hands-on drone expertise, preparing them for modern challenges in the palm oil industry.

The MoU was signed by the Director of Terra Drone Indonesia, represented by Umaidi Suhari, Human Resource Business Partnership (HRBP) of Terra Agri, and Ir. ST. Nugroho Kristono, M.T, Director of Poltek CWE, with acknowledgement from Major General (Ret.) Dr. E.D. Bimo Prakoso, P.C., MPA, M.Sc, Chairman of the Foundation.

Terra Drone Indonesia’s Terra Academy, an established program, offers a Drone Pilot Certification program open to the public, including university students seeking industry-recognized credentials. Through a partnership with Poltek CWE, Terra Agri collaborates with Terra Academy to create an immersive learning experience, blending classroom theory with practical application. Terra Academy provides specialized drone pilot training and certification, equipping students with professional skills. Poltek CWE contributes its 1.3-hectare oil palm plantation, a living laboratory where students and Terra Agri conduct flight tests under conditions replicating commercial plantations. This setup enables students to operate and evaluate drones, gaining critical hands-on experience. Terra Agri further enhances this opportunity by offering three scholarships to top-performing Poltek CWE students for Terra Academy’s professional drone certifications, opening doors to internships or employment and positioning graduates as pioneers in the palm oil industry’s technological advancements.

The collaboration has already delivered impactful results, showcasing drone technology’s potential. As part of the MoU’s guest lecture series, Faaris Muhammad, Terra Agri’s GIS and Data Processing Manager, presented a compelling lecture on using GIS and drones to enhance oil palm plantation management, equipping students with practical strategies. On 14 April 2025, a demonstration of the GX30 blanket spraying drone highlighted precision in action, followed by a showcase of the advanced DJI Matrice 3 surveillance drone on 30 April 2025. Conducted on the polytechnic’s plantation, these events gave students a firsthand view of drones transforming plantation operations, sparking inspiration for their future roles in agri-tech.

Looking ahead, Terra Agri and Poltek CWE are set to expand their collaboration. Upcoming demonstrations will introduce the E16 blanket spraying drone, designed to combat bagworms, and the D16 spot spraying drone, tailored for oryctes pest control. These test flights, hosted on the polytechnic’s plantation, will further refine drone applications for industry use. Ongoing scholarship support and certified career pathways will continue to nurture talent, ensuring students lead the charge in sustainable palm oil innovation.
